Vet Consent In accordance with UK law, I can only treat your dog if you have prior consent from your vet. This is to ensure there are no underlying conditions which would contraindicate massage, and abide by the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 and Exemption Order 2015. These forms are available to download on our homepage. If your vet would like any more information, please do not hesitate to let me know, and/or to put them in contact with me.

Once I have received a copy of the completed form from you or your vet, we can book your dog in for therapy.

By signing the vet consent form as the owner, you are giving both Alba Dog Massage and your vet permission to discuss relevant aspects of your dog's health in accordance with the data protection act.

Booking Your Appointment To book a course of treatment please phone, email or send me a message on Facebook to arrange a time.

Before your dog’s appointment please:

  • Ensure adequate opportunity to relieve themselves
  • Do not feed for at least two hours prior to or following their appointment
  • Do not exercise your dog (other than for toileting) for about 1 hour prior to their appointment

I will not be able to treat your dog if they present with sickness, diarrhoea or flea infestation; are currently on, or are within 5 days of completing, a course of antibiotics; or they have had their annual vaccination within the last two weeks

The Treatment I provide home visits to treat your dog in the comfort of their own home. However, depending on where you live, your preferences, and the best interests of your dog, I can also treat at the clinic near Aberfeldy.

The first session will last up to 2 hours and involve full consultation with gait and postural analysis, discussion of your dog's medical history and presenting condition, activity levels etc. followed by 40-60 minutes of treatment. Subsequent sessions will generally last 40-60 minutes, depending on the treatment plan.

Typically, your dog will receive a course of 3 or 4 massage treatments. This gives the tissue time to relax enabling deeper work. For dogs with chronic conditions, maintenance massage (every ~4-6 weeks) may be appropriate to keep your dog as fit and mobile as possible. For other dogs, maintenance massage is probably not necessary, although treatment 2 or 3 times per year will help keep your dog in good musculoskeletal health and allow treatment of any issues before they become a problem.

Prices & Payment

Each in-person session: £40     (no extra is charged for the initial consult)

For home visits a contribution towards travel will be added (usually about £5).

Payment for each session is due at the time of treatment via either bank transfer or cash. Invoices/receipts can be provided on request.

Cancellation Policy  If you wish to cancel your appointment, please let me know as soon as possible (preferable at least 48 hours notice). Please ensure I have received and responded to your cancellation notice before I travel to your home, otherwise I will have to charge a £10 cancellation fee to cover my travel costs.

Insurance Claims  Many insurance companies will cover the cost of complementary therapy, however it is up to you to check your policy.  Please note that when specifically requested by your insurance company, I will provide the insurer with my case records.

Privacy and Confidentiality Client records are held in compliance with General Data Protection Regulations 2018. In signing the vet consent form and hiring me to treat your dog, you authorise me to use that data as necessary during the course of treatment.

Your dog's veterinary surgeon(s) will be contacted as necessary to share progress and access clinical notes.

When asked specifically, I will provide your insurer with case records. The forwarding of information regarding your dog to any other third party will only be done with your express consent.

Alba Dog Massage retains ownership of all treatment records relating to the therapy provided.

Photographs, Videos and any Written Communication or Information  Photographs and videos are commonly used in assessment, both initially and to monitor progress during treatment. These will not be shared online or with any third party without therapist and client agreement.

Client agreement (spoken or written) for the sharing of photographs and videos will be understood by Alba Dog Massage to permit sharing on social media and usage in any future marketing, teaching or learning material unless expressly stated otherwise by the client (ie the dog’s legal owner/guardian).

All communication from Alba Dog Massage is confidential and for the sole use of the addressee.

Dissemination or sharing of any emails, messages or other documentation provided by Alba Dog Massage with any third party outwith the immediate household is not permitted without prior written consent.
